We confirmed a problem at Safari on iPadOS 18.2 or after version. For confirmation, we made a HTML document (see below HTML1) what include ‘method="POST" target="_blank"’ and tested the form however server received GET method and there is no parameter, server did not receive “id” parameter. We confirmed that fact in captured packet and log file that on the server. HTML1: We also made another HTML document (see below HTML2) what include submit button, but the server received GET method as above. HTML2: And we also confirmed that it behaves differently depending on the network environment. If the form targets a name that does not exist (ex. target=” A12345”), behaves differently http or https. http: Safari opened new tag, but the server received GET method. Normally, Safari open new tag and the server receive POST method. https: Safari opened new tag, and the server received POST method. It is normally. If the form targets ‘_blank’, the server received GET method on http or https both. We think Safari change the method POST to GET and delete parameters. It is not conformed to the HTML specification if is that true. We confirmed it was not happened at Safari on iPadOS 17.4, and Windows PC (Edge, Chrome). The method what the server received is POST. Since Safari requires a macOS app as a container for Web Extensions, is there a way to establish native messaging directly from SafariWebExtensionHandler using stdin/stdout? Or does Safari enforce a different communication mechanism? I’d like to keep the same approach as other browsers. Any guidance on making this work would be appreciated!

Good morning fellow developers, For a while i am struggeling with providing sound to my users on IOS (Safari on Mac is no problem and every other device is not a problem) (we have an existing phone system and made a chat as well), the case is very simple: the notification sound is only for users who are logged in and online for chat. i have tried multiple things: Audio play with javascript (start with mute, play when user clicks a button so the sound is familiar, play when user clicks a button and directly pause it and continue when needed) PWA: the dashboard has been made available as pwa and notifications using google firebase. The popup does show for notifcations to be allowed (and receiving the notifications does work on any other device) But any IOS device cannot register. The information i find is that notifications were supported with 16.4 or higher but also have been deprecated around IOS 17, auto play is not allowed. We have an app in development for our product as well were we will have a notification which will handle this, but that is not the solution we can use now. Long story, short question: is it still somehow possible to push a notification to the user when using the PWA or play a sound in the browser (based on an ajax function). The app/website wont be in the background, so it will always be on the screen. Languages we use: html/javascript (mostly vanilla)/php

I have a local HTML file used to display mixed content with images and text. Here's the issue: the same file displays everything correctly in Google Chrome, showing both images and text as expected. However, when opened in Safari, only the text is shown—images are missing, which is very strange. Interestingly, if I remove .png from the title attribute of the tag, the images show up properly in Safari. Alternatively, if I comment out the inclusion of html2canvas.min.js, the images also display correctly (although the layout breaks without it). I'm not sure if this is a Safari-specific issue. I am encountering an intermittent issue with WKWebView in my iOS app. The problem occurs infrequently, but when it does, the WKWebView consistently displays a white screen and remains in this state until the app is forcefully terminated and relaunched. To provide more context, here are the key characteristics of the issue: The white screen problem occurs sporadically and is not easily reproducible. The WKWebView remains unresponsive despite attempts to interact with it. Reloading the webpage or navigating to a different URL does not resolve the white screen issue. The problem persists until the app is terminated and relaunched. This issue is specific to the WKWebView; other components of the app function correctly. The WKWebView renders normally, and the main document synchronously loads resources both offline and online without any issues. The bridge and JavaScript execution also work as expected. However, when interacting with the WKWebView, it becomes unresponsive to user clicks, and the web inspector fails to respond. Additionally, asynchronous network requests also do not receive any response. The problem occurs exclusively on HTTPS pages, whereas HTTP pages load without any issues. Other components, such as workers, function correctly. addUserScript injection during WKWebView creation is effective, and evaluateJavaScript during the page loading process works as expected. However, when the document becomes unresponsive, executing evaluateJavaScript only triggers the callback after the WKWebView is destroyed. I have discovered a reliable method to reproduce the white screen issue in WKWebView. This method involves the following steps and conditions: Create a WKWebView instance. Load an HTML page using the loadRequest method（https url request）. Before the WKWebView is attached to the UI (not yet visible to the user), call the evaluateJavaScript function. Hi everyone, My web application has two services: myapp.com and account.myapp.com. The first manages all app content, while the latter handles the authentication, with Sign In with Apple included. The tech stack is mainly composed of React, JS, and Express. We'd like to allow users to authenticate inside a dialog on some pages of myapp.com. To avoid replicating stuff from one service to another, we put an iframe inside the dialog to show the authentication standard page from account.myapp.com. Email and Facebook processes work fine, but we have the following issues with Sign in with Apple: On desktop, not Safari, a pop-up window opens when you click on the Apple button, and it works as expected. On desktop Safari, the pop-up window is blocked. We want the native Apple pop-up to show instead of a generic browser new window. On mobile, nothing happens on click Obviously, outside the iframe, everything works as expected. I can't seem to find anything related to an iframe constraint in the Sign in with Apple docs. Is this feasible?

Is there any video/audio codec best practices, guides, recommendations for app/web developers for best performance (take advantage from HW acceleration), power consumption saving? What are officially supported media containers? What are video encoding profiles, video dimensions, frame rates? The only official source I have found is https://developer.apple.com/documentation/webkit/delivering-video-content-for-safari?language=objc. But h264 is pretty old. I experimentally found that the VP9 video format is also supported on iOS newer versions. But is this a requirement? Сan i be sure that the video will play on all devices? My goal is to provide web media content (which will be rendered in my application using WKWebView API) that will be supported by most devices (both iOS and MacOS), takes advantage of such features as hardware decode acceleration and be efficient. Enabling Private Relay seems to block XHR in Safari from reaching a local HTTPS server hosted by an iOS app, though it works in other browsers. The page remains at the incorrect zoom level. Expected Result: After returning the page to 100% zoom, changing orientation should keep the zoom level at exactly 100% in both portrait and landscape modes. Actual Result: After returning to 100% zoom, rotating to landscape changes the zoom to a non-100% value, and rotating back to portrait retains the incorrect zoom level.

I have "http://localhost:8080" showing the index page I've created but php is not handled though an extension is running. Haven't even tried mySQL yet but since there is no reference to it in https.conf the same problem will exist. Homebrew extension running also. https.conf: #PHP was deprecated in macOS 11 and removed from macOS 12 #LoadModule php7_module libexec/apache2/libphp7.so There are no php.so files on my machine and again no mention of mysql What should I enter in http.conf to activate these functionalities? Expected Behavior The password validation error (e.g., containing the user’s name) should be immediately displayed in the UI next to the password field to inform the user and allow for correction.
