Hi!
In neither Xcode 16.2 beta 3 nor Xcode 16.2 I am able to get App Shortcuts Preview to recognise my Shortcuts. In either supported language I always get "No Matching Intent" as the result.
Flexible matching is enabled, minimum deployment target is iOS 18. The Shortcut phrases do work in the simulator and on device.
Is this a known issue or am I missing something?

Syntax highlighting & code autocompletion is broken for Swift Packages wrapping an underlying binary target. Jump to defenition for module import shows the whole module interface and project builds & archives just fine, but any known workarounds to resurrect syntax assistant won't work without any errors/warnings.
Replacing the .binaryTarget() with plain .target() with source code in package dependency brings all assistant features back.
Steps to reproduce (project attached):
Create a local Swift Package
Add a dependency with binary target (for example — AppsFlyerFramework https://github.com/AppsFlyerSDK/AppsFlyerFramework)
Try to use dependency product with binary dependency
Attempted steps to fix:
Full DD clean
Full project clean

When renaming A.value, it also causes the value inside the conditional compilation in checkRename to be renamed.
How to resolve or avoid this situation?
class A {
let value = "1"
}
class B {
var value = 0
}
func checkRename() {
var b = B()
#if os(iOS)
b.value = 456
#elseif os(macOS)
b.value = 789
#endif
}

When I build and rum my iOS app with xocde 16.0 or higher version with my 16.0 iOS, 17.0 iOS, if fails to run with error. (Library not loaded: /System/Library/Frameworks/SwiftUICore.framework/SwiftUICore)
I found this error after update my macOS and xcode (Ventura -> Sequoia, Xcode 15.2 -> 16.2). I try to setting '-weak_framework SwiftUI' for solve this error with this post (https://forums.developer.apple.com/forums/thread/126506). But when applied, an error occurred in modify on all swiftUI. If a project is built with a simulator over 18 versions, it runs smoothly.
*issue project is with tac or tuist. There are two projects in question, and each configuration is (1.17.0 tca + 4.37.0) / (tuist 3.4.0).
Does anyone have any pointers as where I even start to debug this issue and narrow down on what's going on with Xcode 16?
I am working on an XCode project and I have some Swift functions within a helper functions file. This file has some functions declared that create 3 global variables. These global variables are then used in various views throughout the app. In the functions, there are print statements for when it catches an error. However, when I run the app and I get an error that stems from this file, there are no print statements. How can I have this print statements show up in the debug console?
My app controls the cursor within its text area. Upon touching the screen the ios moves the cursor when dragging. The app cursor and the IOS cursor are now out of sync. Is there a way to set the app cursor to the IOS cursor?
I have checked many sources to no avail.
Thanks for your help.

All is fine in Xcode15, no LLDB errors whatsoever, but in Xcode16 I can't get any variable displayed in the console because of the following error:
error: type for self cannot be reconstructed: type for typename "$......." was not found (cached)
error: Couldn't realize Swift AST type of self. Hint: using `v` to directly inspect variables and fields may still work.
I've checked the output of swift-healthcheck and there are several messages like this:
SwiftASTContextForExpressions(module: "ROA", cu: "ROA+ViewLayer.swift")::LoadOneModule() -- Missing Swift module or Clang module found for "UIKit", "imported" via SwiftDWARFImporterDelegate. Hint: Register Swift modules with the linker using -add_ast_path.
I added -add_ast_path to the OTHER_LDFLAGS in the faulty module's build settings but no luck.
How can I debug my project in Xcode16?
My widget uses the @Environment(.isActivityFullscreen) variable. When running on ios 17, it will crash and report an error:
dyld[55031]: Symbol not found: _$s7SwiftUI17EnvironmentValuesV9WidgetKitE20isActivityFullscreenSbvg
Expected in: /Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Volumes/iOS_21E213/Library/Developer/CoreSimulator/Profiles/Runtimes/iOS 17.4.simruntime/Contents/Resources/RuntimeRoot/System/Library/Frameworks/WidgetKit.framework/WidgetKit
Xcode 16 unindents lines if I choose a code-completion and I cannot find a way to stop this - does anybody know how to stop it?
Here's a link to a gif demonstrating this problem - it's incredibly frustrating.

Dear Apple Developer Forum!
I'm in need of help regarding an issue that has to do with binaries.
I'm building an iOS App that needs a fingerprint of its binaries, exclusively based on the source code written. A "reproducible" build, meaning that when I compile it on my machine and run checksum on it, the output (hash) will be the same, as if another device clones the project, compiles and checksums the values.
The App depends on swift packages which depends on Swift Packages, which I've managed to compile to .o files, convert to .a files (static frameworks) and create xcframeworks, which the App depends on. They work great, once compiled, their checksum value does not change when App is compiled (unless source code of them is changed of course), but the Apps executable (checksummed inside the IPA) changes every time it's compiled. I'm guessing that perhaps the Xcode compiler injects a timestamp or other unique identifier in the binaries?
Is there any way to have "reproducible" builds on iOS (Swift Xcode)?
All input is greatly appreciated,
Thank you very much,
Kind regards Johan.
I'm pulling my hair out here with this new Xcode 16, it complains that my app's dSYM is empty though it's clearly not, it's about 25MB.
I'm working on a project using an internal static library, everything is built inhouse using swift, we own all the source code. It worked just fine until the other week, when I updated the Xcode, and now I can't debug anything. I keep getting "type for self cannot be reconstructed" when I run "po self.some_property". Why is that?
The Debug information Format is set to DWARF with dSYM File for both the executable and lib projects.
I've been a Unix guy since before I knew myself and I enjoy fixing things myself, down to bare metal, but man, this bug is driving me crazy. Is it even a bug??
It's the first time in more than 15 years since I started coding on Mac and iPhone when a bug has defeated me. I was always able to fix things using just the documentation and google, but the Apple toolchain is getting worse and worse nowadays.
I remember the time when Apple made the complicated things simple, now they make the simple things complicated :(
I just split the static lib from the main project one year ago, because of the ridiculously long build time. Should I merge back all the code in a single project? Something seems wrong to me.
So I created this account to ask the masters. How can I get back my debug info (and sanity)? Using Xcode 15 is not an option because it doesn't run on Sequoia.
How do I resolve these errors reported in Xcode about using Core Data Composite Attributes feature?
Composite Attributes feature requires tvOS deployment target 17.0 or later
Composite Attributes feature requires watchOS deployment target 10.0 or later
My app is a Cocoa app and targets macOS 14.0+. I do not have an iOS, iPadOS, tvOS nor watchOS targets. So, I don't understand why I am getting these errors.
My Xcode project format is set to Xcode 16.0.
I am on macOS Sequoia 15.2 (24C101) and using Xcode Version 16.2 (16C5032a).
If you create a new Xcode project and choose macOS > App and Storage > Core Data and then Add Composite Type and set an attribute name and type, you will get the errors.

Whenever I run anything in xcode it opens an extra terminal that runs the program then exits immediately, but the app still runs through the normal xcode launch. It's not a huge issue but It's getting really annoying to realize I have like 7 windows of terminal open that are just doing nothing.
Has anyone had this issue before?
I have a sample SwiftUI iOS app. As shown in the screenshot below, my project has three configurations: Debug, MyDebug, Release.
If I select the Debug or MyDebug scheme, I get a preview. But if I select the Release scheme, I get an error that says the following.
”***.app” needs -Onone Swift optimization level to use previews (current setting is -O)
, where *** is the app name.
It probably has nothing to do with the Preview error, but the Info.plist has a dictionary such that the key name is devMode, and the value is $(DEVMODE). And I have a user-defined setting as shown below.
My ContentView has the following.
import SwiftUI
struct ContentView: View {
@State private var state: String = ""
var body: some View {
VStack {
Text("Hello, world!: \(state)")
}
.onAppear {
if let devMode = Bundle.main.object(forInfoDictionaryKey: "devMode") as? String {
print("Development mode: \(devMode)")
state = devMode
}
if let path = Bundle.main.path(forResource: "Info", ofType: "plist") {
if let dict = NSDictionary(contentsOfFile: path) {
print("**** \(dict)")
}
}
#if DEBUG
print("Debug")
#elseif MYDEBUG
print("MyDebug")
#else
print("Que?")
#endif
}
}
}
#Preview {
ContentView()
}
So my question is how I get the preview for all three build schemes? Muchos thankos.
After changing Xcode 16.2 with min iOS 15.
I got error in debug mode
Assertion failed: (reconstituted == accumulator), function setFixup64, file OutputFile.cpp, line 2975.
But project still can archive to IPA.
Anyone has the same issue as me?
Hi all, reposting this from here:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/789849/xattr-c-not-removing-com-apple-finderinfo-attribute
I came to this problem because my Xcode project was failing to build due to the error "resource fork, Finder information, or similar detritus not allowed" (was trying the solutions on this post).
Basically, running xattr -cr . in the terminal on my project directory removes all extended attributes except com.apple.FinderInfo, which stays on all .xcodeproj and .xcworkspace files. I've tried everything under the sun, from sudo to xattr -d to dot_clean to tar to rsync and nothing works. Is this just an immortal attribute that can never be removed? I'm truly at a loss here, this is for my senior thesis project.
