SwiftUI navigationTransition(.zoom) glitches during interactive swipe-back
Hi everyone 👋 I’m fairly new to iOS development and I’ve been stuck on a SwiftUI issue for a while now, so I’m hoping someone here can spot what I’m doing wrong. I’m using navigationTransition(.zoom) together with matchedTransitionSource to animate navigation between views. The UI consists of a grid of items (currently a LazyVGrid, though the issue seems unrelated to laziness). Tapping an item zooms it into its detail view, which is structurally the same view type and can contain further items. All good expect that interactive swipe-back sometimes causes the item to disappear from the grid once the parent view is revealed. This only happens when dismissing via the drag gesture; it does not occur when using the back button. I’ve attached a short demo showing the issue and the Swift file containing the relevant view code. Is there something obvious I’m doing wrong with navigationTransition / matchedTransitionSource, or is this a known limitation or bug with interactive swipe-back? Thanks in advance. import SwiftUI struct TestFileView: View { @Namespace private var ns: Namespace.ID let nodeName: String let children: [String] let pathPrefix: String private func transitionID(for childName: String) -> String { "Zoom-\(pathPrefix)->\(childName)" } private let columns = Array(repeating: GridItem(.flexible(), spacing: 12), count: 3) var body: some View { ScrollView { VStack(alignment: .leading, spacing: 12) { Text(nodeName) .font(.title.bold()) .padding(.bottom, 6) LazyVGrid(columns: columns, spacing: 12) { ForEach(children, id: \.self) { childName in let id = transitionID(for: childName) NavigationLink { TestFileView( nodeName: childName, children: childrenFor(childName), pathPrefix: "\(pathPrefix)/\(childName)" ) .navigationTransition(.zoom(sourceID: id, in: ns)) } label: { TestFileCard(title: childName) .matchedTransitionSource(id: id, in: ns) } .buttonStyle(.plain) } } } .padding() } } private func childrenFor(_ name: String) -> [String] { switch name { case "Lorem": return ["Ipsum", "Dolor", "Sit"] case "Ipsum": return ["Amet", "Consectetur"] case "Dolor": return ["Adipiscing", "Elit", "Sed"] case "Sit": return ["Do", "Eiusmod"] case "Amet": return ["Tempor", "Incididunt", "Labore"] case "Adipiscing": return ["Magna", "Aliqua"] case "Elit": return ["Ut", "Enim", "Minim"] case "Tempor": return ["Veniam", "Quis"] case "Magna": return ["Nostrud", "Exercitation"] default: return [] } } } struct TestFileCard: View { let title: String var body: some View { VStack(alignment: .leading, spacing: 8) { Image(systemName: "square.stack.3d.up") .symbolRenderingMode(.hierarchical) .font(.headline) Text(title) .font(.subheadline.weight(.semibold)) .lineLimit(2) .minimumScaleFactor(0.85) Spacer(minLength: 0) } .padding(12) .frame(maxWidth: .infinity, minHeight: 90, alignment: .topLeading) .background(.thinMaterial, in: RoundedRectangle(cornerRadius: 14, style: .continuous)) } } private struct TestRoot: View { var body: some View { NavigationStack { TestFileView( nodeName: "Lorem", children: ["Ipsum", "Dolor", "Sit"], pathPrefix: "Lorem" ) } } } #Preview { TestRoot() }

OTP AutoFill Fails to Distribute Code Across Multiple UITextFields on iOS 26.x
Issue Summary: On iOS 26.0.1 to 26.3, apps using multiple UITextFields for OTP input face a critical issue where the system autofill pastes the entire OTP string into a single text field, usually the focused one, rather than splitting digits across fields. Delegate events like textDidChange: do not trigger consistently on autofill, breaking existing input handling logic. Expected Behavior: OTP autofill should distribute each digit correctly across all OTP UITextFields. Delegate or control events should fire on autofill to enable manual handling. (BOOL)textField:(UITextField *)textField shouldChangeCharactersInRange:(NSRange)range replacementString:(NSString *)string { if (string.length > 1) { // Autofill detected - distribute OTP manually for (int i = 0; i < string.length && i < self.arrayOTPText.count; i++) { UITextField *field = self.arrayOTPText[i]; field.text = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%c", [string characterAtIndex:i]]; } UITextField *lastField = self.arrayOTPText[string.length - 1]; [lastField becomeFirstResponder]; return NO; } // Handle normal single character or deletion input here return YES; } // // Setup UITextFields - set .oneTimeCode on first field only for (int i = 0; i < self.arrayOTPText.count; i++) { UITextField *field = self.arrayOTPText[i]; field.delegate = self; if (@available(iOS 12.0, *)) { field.textContentType = (i == 0) ? UITextContentTypeOneTimeCode : UITextContentTypeNone; } } What We’ve Tried: Setting textContentType properly. Handling OTP distribution in delegate method. Verifying settings and keyboard use. Testing on multiple iOS 26.x versions. Impact: Major usability degradation during OTP entry. Forces fragile workarounds. Inconsistent autofill reduces user confidence. Request: Request Apple fix OTP autofill to natively support multi-field UITextField OTP input or provide enhanced delegate callbacks for consistent behavior. Did any one face this issue in recent time with iOS 26.0.1 to 26.3 beta version

My app doesn't respond on iPhone Air iOS 26.1.
My app doesn't respond on iPhone Air iOS 26.1. After startup, my app shows the main view with a tab bar controller containing 4 navigation controllers. However, when a second-level view controller is pushed onto any navigation controller, the UI freezes and becomes unresponsive. The iPhone simulator running iOS 26.1 exhibits the same problem. The debug profile shows CPU usage at 100%. However, other devices and simulators do not have this problem.

UIKit crash on app built with Xcode 26 but run on iOS 18.X
An app built on Xcode 26 (beta4) presents various UIViewCOntrollers. Presentation of any UIViewController that contains a UIToolbar leads to a UIKit crash when run on an iOS 18.5 device, it does not crash when run on iOS 26. The exception logged: *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidUnarchiveOperationException', reason: 'Could not instantiate class named TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView because no class named TtGC5UIKit17UICoreHostingViewVCS_21ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView was found; the class needs to be defined in source code or linked in from a library (ensure the class is part of the correct target)' Anyone else seen this? I've submitted a bug report via Feedback Assistant, including a minimal Xcode workspace that reproduces the crash, hoping this will get some attention.

UITabBar Appears During Swipe-Back Gesture on iOS 26 Liquid Glass UI
Hello, While integrating the Liquid Glass UI introduced in iOS 26 into my existing app, I encountered an unexpected issue. My app uses a UITabBarController, where each tab contains a UINavigationController, and the actual content resides in each UIViewController. Typically, I perform navigation using navigationController?.pushViewController(...) and hide the TabBar by setting vc.hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = true when needed. This structure worked perfectly fine prior to iOS 26, and I believe many apps use a similar approach. However, after enabling Liquid Glass UI, a problem occurs. Problem Description From AViewController, I push BViewController with hidesBottomBarWhenPushed = true. BViewController appears, and the TabBar is hidden as expected. When performing a swipe-back gesture, as soon as AViewController becomes visible, the TabBar immediately reappears (likely due to A’s viewWillAppear). The TabBar remains visible for a short moment even if the gesture is canceled — during that time, it is also interactable. Before iOS 26, the TabBar appeared synchronized with AViewController and did not prematurely show during the swipe transition. Tried using the new iOS 18 API: tabBarController?.setTabBarHidden(false, animated: true) It slightly improves the animation behavior, but the issue persists. If hidesBottomBarWhenPushed is now deprecated or discouraged, migrating entirely to setTabBarHidden would require significant refactoring, which is not practical for many existing apps. Is this caused by a misuse of hidesBottomBarWhenPushed, or could this be a regression or design change in iOS 26’s Liquid Glass UI?

Issue with multiple touches with "Defer System Gestures" on, with iOS
I'm developing a rhythm game for iOS which has four buttons spanning the width of the screen in portrait. I noticed that my testers were having some missed inputs on the buttons on the left and right due to the fact that iOS, by default, tries to ignore accidental touches on the edges of the screen. So I enabled "Defer System Gestures" on the left and right edges, but then quickly started to notice a new, very specific, issue. Description of the issue If you have finger #1 touching and holding anywhere in the middle of the screen, and finger #2 touches on the far right or left edge of the screen just below the horizontal position of finger #1, those touches are inconsistently not recognized. If finger #1 is not present, this issue does not occur. If finger #2 is above or well below finger #1, this issue also does not occur. A dead zone is created on the right and left edges of the screen just below the horizontal position of the first touch. Here is a rough representative example of where touches #1 and #2 need to be for this issue to manifest, in case the text above is not clear. | | | | | | | | | 1 | | 2| | | It just so happens that this issue is causing major usability problems with my game, as it results in what the user sees as sporadic and inconsistent response when the game calls for two notes to be played at the same time. Steps to recreate the issue Here are the steps if you want to recreate the problem yourself using the "Create New Gesture" pane in "Assistive Touch" (Note that this problem is not specific to the Settings app, but rather is an issue across the system—however this panel defers system gestures and shows where touches are being read, so it is a great place to demonstrate): (1) Go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Assistive Touch > Create New Gesture...; (2) With one finger, touch the middle of the screen and hold it through step 3; (3) With a second finger, tap 4 times along the right (or left) edge of the screen in the following places: (a) well above the vertical position of the first touch, (b) just above the vertical position of the first touch, (c) just below the vertical position of the first touch, and (d) well below the vertical position of the first touch; (4) Notice how, more than half the time, touch (c) does not register. I have found that this problem is more replicatable when the first touch is on the lower half of the screen, but I have been able to replicate it when the finger is higher as well, just not as consistently. Here are the four positions described in the steps above: Position a: both touches register | | | | | | | 2| | 1 | | | | | Position b: both touches usually register | | | | | | | | | 1 2| | | | | Position c: only touch 1 registers | | | | | | | | | 1 | | 2| | | Position d: both touches register | | | | | | | | | 1 | | | | 2| Is there anything I can do to resolve this behavior? My app requires gesture deferment to be on for the expected experience by the user, and this bug is causing other issues for my testers that kind of need to be resolved before I can confidently release the game.

Xcode 26 Beta 3 Crash on iOS 18 Simulators - NSInvalidUnarchiveOperationException (ToolbarVisualProvider8RootView missing)
Hi, I’m seeing a crash when running my app on iOS 18 simulators or devices using Xcode 26 beta 3. Markdown Link in AttributedString Not Focusable with Full Keyboard Access in SwiftUI
I’m encountering an accessibility issue in SwiftUI related to keyboard navigation. 🐞 Problem When using an AttributedString to display Markdown content in a SwiftUI view (such as a Text view), any links included in the Markdown are not keyboard focusable when Full Keyboard Access is enabled. This means users can’t navigate to or activate the links using the Tab key or other keyboard-only methods. 💻 Platform iOS version: 16+ Framework: SwiftUI Device: All tested iPhones and iPads 🧪 Steps to Reproduce Enable Full Keyboard Access in iOS settings. Run the included SwiftUI Playground or equivalent app using the code below. Try to navigate to the link using Tab or keyboard arrow keys. Observe that the Markdown link is not reachable via keyboard focus. 🧩 Expected Behavior The Markdown link should be reachable via keyboard focus. It should be possible to activate the link using Space or Return. 📚 Example code struct ContentView: View { let attributedString: AttributedString init() { self.attributedString = try! AttributedString( markdown: "This is a [test link](https://apple.com) inside an attributed string." ) } var body: some View { VStack { Text("Issue: Attributed Markdown Link Is Not Focusable with full keyboard access") .font(.headline) .padding() Text(attributedString) // The link is not focusable with .padding() .border(Color.gray, width: 1) Text("Expected: The link should be focusable with Full Keyboard Access.") .foregroundColor(.red) .padding() } } }

Implicit list row animations broken in Form container on iOS 26 beta 3
[Submitted as FB18870294, but posting here for visibility.] In iOS 26 beta 3 (23A5287g), implicit animations no longer work when conditionally showing or hiding rows in a Form. Rows with Text or other views inside a Section appear and disappear abruptly, even when wrapped in withAnimation or using .animation() modifiers. This is a regression from iOS 18.5, where the row item animates in and out correctly with the same code. Repro Steps Create a new iOS App › SwiftUI project. Replace its ContentView struct with the code below Build and run on an iOS 18 device. Tap the Show Middle Row toggle and note how the Middle Row animates. Build and run on an iOS 26 beta 3 device. Tap the Show Middle Row toggle. Expected Middle Row item should smoothly animate in and out as it does on iOS 18. Actual Middle Row item appears and disappears abruptly, without any animation. Code struct ContentView: View { @State private var showingMiddleRow = false var body: some View { Form { Section { Toggle( "Show **Middle Row**", isOn: $showingMiddleRow.animation() ) if showingMiddleRow { Text("Middle Row") } Text("Last Row") } } } }

Clarification on safeAreaBar
I've been testing the safeAreaBar modifier to develop a custom tab bar. From my understanding, this should enable the .scrollEdgeEffectStyle to work with this bar, but I don't see any effect. Could you please clarify the difference between safeAreaBar and safeAreaInset?

Large title is not visible in iOS 26
I am using below code to change navigationBar bg colour, but the text is hidden in large title. It works fine in previous versions. Kindly refer below code and attached images. Code: override func viewWillAppear(_ animated: Bool) { super.viewWillAppear(animated) navigationController?.navigationBar.prefersLargeTitles = true navigationItem.largeTitleDisplayMode = .always let appearance = UINavigationBarAppearance() appearance.backgroundColor = UIColor( red: 0.101961, green: 0.439216, blue: 0.388235, alpha: 1.0 ) navigationController?.navigationBar.standardAppearance = appearance navigationController?.navigationBar.scrollEdgeAppearance = appearance navigationController?.navigationBar.compactAppearance = appearance } Referenced images:

hidesBottomBarWhenPushed is bugged on iOS 26
I am using a common UI pattern: UITabBarController as window root, each tab with a separate UINavigationController stack. I want the (bottom!) tab bar to be only visible when the user is at the root of the app and hide it when a detail page is opened. To do that, I used hidesBottomBarWhenPushed on any view controller that would be pushed on my navigation stacks and that worked fine in the past. But with iOS 26, I am seeing several issues: On iOS where when the bottom tab bar is used, when in a details page and navigating back, the tab bar becomes fully visible immediately instead of slowly animating in as it has been in the past. This is particular visible and annoying when using the "swipe to go back" gesture On iPad, the situation is even worse: On iPadOS 18, the tab bar appeared in the navigation controller's navigation bar - no matter if hidesBottomBarWhenPushed was set or not - fine. But now, with iPadOS 26, this top tab bar disappears when a child is pushed. Not only that, it disappears abruptly, without animation, and the Liquid Glass effect on the UIBarButtonItems is broken as well. There is no transition whatsoever, buttons are simply replaced with the new UIBarButtonItems of the pushed view controller once it became fully visible. It gets even worse when swipe-back navigating on iPadOS: As soon as the back transition starts, the tab bar becomes visible again (without animation), covering the title (view) of the UINavigationController. If the swipe-back transition is not completed the tab bar suddenly stays visible When the swipe-back transition is interrupted close to the end of the transition and it goes back to the pushed view controller, the top UIBarButtonItems are showing a visual glitch where the content (text or icon) stays on the area where the tab bar is, while their container (the glass effect) are on the vertically aligned to the title view. I am surprised that I have not found any similar reports of these problems, so I am wondering if I am doing anything wrong or using hidesBottomBarWhenPushed simply isn't recommended or supported any more.

UIViewRepresentable never dismantled on deletion (MEMORY LEAK)
I have find out that a UIViewRepresentable, even with a simples UIView, seems to never be dismantled when deleted from a ForEach and this can cause serious crashes. In the following example you can observe this behavior by deleting a row from the list. The dismantleUIView function of SomeUIViewRepresentable or the deinit of SomeUIView are never called. Has anyone faced this and found a solution for it? I have also filled a Feedback: FB11979117 class SomeUIView: UIView {     deinit {         print(#function)     } } struct SomeUIViewRepresentable: UIViewRepresentable {     func makeUIView(context: Context) -> SomeUIView {         let uiView = SomeUIView()         uiView.backgroundColor = .systemBlue         return uiView     }     func updateUIView(_ uiView: SomeUIView, context: Context) { }     static func dismantleUIView(_ uiView: SomeUIView, coordinator: Coordinator) {         print(#function)     } } struct Model: Identifiable {     let id = UUID() } struct ContentView: View {     @State var models = [Model(), Model(), Model(), Model(), Model()]     var body: some View {         List {             ForEach(models) { _ in                 SomeUIViewRepresentable()             }             .onDelete {                 models.remove(atOffsets: $0)             }         }     } }

[iOSAppOnMac] ShareKit: Crashes in SHKItemIsPDF() or -[SHKSaveToFilesSharingService saveFileURL:completion:]
I have a custom document-based iOS app that also runs on macOS. After implementing -activityItemsConfiguration to enable sharing from the context menu, I found that the app crashes on macOS when selecting Share… from the context menu and then selecting Save (i.e. Save to Files under iOS). This problem does not occur on iOS, which behaves correctly. - (id<UIActivityItemsConfigurationReading>)activityItemsConfiguration { NSItemProvider * provider = [[NSItemProvider alloc] initWithContentsOfURL:self.document.presentedItemURL]; UIActivityItemsConfiguration * configuration = [UIActivityItemsConfiguration activityItemsConfigurationWithItemProviders:@[ provider ]]; // XXX crashes with com.apple.share.System.SaveToFiles return configuration; } Additionally, I found that to even reach this crash, the workaround implemented in the NSItemProvider (FBxxx) category of the sample project is needed. Without this, the app will crash much earlier, due to SHKItemIsPDF() erroneously invoking -pathExtension on an NSItemProvider. This appears to be a second bug in Apple’s private ShareKit framework. #import <UniformTypeIdentifiers/UniformTypeIdentifiers.h> @implementation NSItemProvider (FBxxx) // XXX SHKItemIsPDF() invokes -pathExtension on an NSItemProvider (when running under macOS, anyway) -> crash - (NSString *)pathExtension { return self.registeredContentTypes.firstObject.preferredFilenameExtension; } @end Again, this all works fine on iOS (17.5) but crashes when the exact same app build is running on macOS (14.5). I believe these bugs are Apple's. Any idea how to avoid the crash? Is there a way to disable the "Save to Files" option in the sharing popup? I filed FB13819800 with a sample project that demonstrates the crash on macOS. I was going to file a TSI to get this resolved, but I see that DTS is not responding to tech support incidents until after WWDC.

How to check if a sandboxed app already has the access permission to a URL
I want to check whether a sandboxed application already has access permission to a specific URL. Based on my investigation, the following FileManager method seems to be able to determine it: FileManager.default.isReadableFile(atPath: fileURL.path) However, the method name and description don't explicitly mention this use case, so I'm not confident there aren't any oversights. Also, since this method takes a String path rather than a URL, I'd like to know if there's a more modern API available. I want to use this information to decide whether to prompt the user about the Sandbox restriction in my AppKit-based app.

iPadOS 26.1: new issue with traitCollection when changing dark mode
Since iPadOS 26.1 I notice a new annoying bug when changing the dark mode option of the system. The appearance of the UI changes, but no longer for view controllers which are presented as Popover. For these view controllers the method "traitCollectionDidChange()" is still called (though sometimes with a very large delay), but checking the traitCollection property of the view controller in there does no longer return the correct appearance (which is probably why the visual appearance of the popover doesn't change anymore). So if the dark mode was just switched on, traitCollectionDidChange() is called, but the "traitCollection.userInterfaceStyle" property still tells me that the system is in normal mode. More concrete, traitCollection.userInterfaceStyle seems to be set correctly only(!) when opening the popover, and while the popover is open, it is never updated anymore when the dark mode changes. This is also visible in the standard Apps of the iPad, like the Apple Maps App: just tap on the "map" icon at the top right to open the "Map mode" view. While the view is open, change the dark mode. All of the Maps App will change its appearance, with the exception of this "Map mode" view. Does anyone know an easy workaround? Or do I really need to manually change the colors for all popup view controllers whenever the dark mode changes? Using dynamic UIColors won't help, because these rely on the "userInterfaceStyle" property, and this is no longer correct. Bugreport: FB20928471

NSScrollView scrolling hitch
When scrolling a basic NSScrollView there seems to be a sudden jump after each flick. Scrolling does not appear smooth and is disorientating. A scroll jump seems to happen directly after letting go of a scroll flick using a trackpad/mouse. Right at that moment the scroll turns into a momentum scroll, slowly decreasing the speed. But the first frame after the gesture the content jumps forward, more than what is expected. Observations: Counterintuitively, scrolling appears to be smoother when disabling NSScrollView.isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling. If disabled using a custom NSScrollView subclass there is no large jump anymore. Scrolling also appears to be smoother using a SwiftUI ScrollView. I assume that has the same behaviour as a disabled isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling Ironically a WKWebView scrolls much smoother. No sudden jump is observable. It also seems to scroll with faster acceleration, but the individual frames do appear smoother. Why is this better than a native NSScrollView? Elastic scrolling at the bounds of the scroll view also appears much smoother for WKWebViews. When pulling to refresh there is a jump for NSScrollView/SwiftUI, but not for WKWebView. When using an NSScrollView with isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling disabled, scrolling appears just as smooth as WKWebView on macOS 13 Ventura and below. On macOS 14 Sonoma scrolling behaviour is suddenly different. Please see a sample project with 4 different scroll views side by side: https://github.com/floorish/ScrollTest Screen recordings show the sudden jumps when scrolling and when elastic scrolling. Tested on Intel & Arm Macs, macOS 11 Big Sur through 15 Sequoia, built with Xcode 16. Should isCompatibleWithResponsiveScrolling be disabled on Sonoma+? Are there any drawbacks? There is also no overdraw anymore since Monterey, as described in https://developer.apple.com/library/archive/releasenotes/AppKit/RN-AppKitOlderNotes/#10_9Scrolling Even with responsive scrolling disabled, why is WKWebView scrolling much smoother than NSScrollView?
