Unfortunately Safari does not support tracking changes to the audible property in an event tabs.onUpdated. Is there an alternative to this event? I'm looking for a way to track when the automatic inference engine interrupts playback on a music service website.

When multiple identical songs are added to a playlist, Playlist.Entry.id uses a suffix-based identifier (e.g. songID_0, songID_1, etc.). Removing one entry causes others to shift, changing their .id values. This leads to diffing errors and collection view crashes in SwiftUI or UIKit when entries are updated.
Steps to Reproduce:
Add the same song to a playlist multiple times.
Observe .id.rawValue of entries (e.g. i.SONGID_0, i.SONGID_1).
Remove one entry.
Fetch playlist again — note the other IDs have shifted.

I’m trying to use AVAssetResourceLoaderDelegate to handle a live radio stream (e.g. Icecast/HTTP stream). My goal is to have access to the last 30 seconds of audio data during playback, so I can analyze it for specific audio patterns in near-real-time.
I’ve implemented a custom resource loader that works fine for podcasts and static files, where the file size and content length are known. However, for infinite live streams, my current implementation stops receiving new loading requests after the first one is served. As a result, the playback either stalls or fails to continue.
Has anyone successfully used AVAssetResourceLoaderDelegate with a continuous radio stream? Or maybe you can suggest betterapproach for buffering and analyzing live audio?
Any tips, examples, or advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
I bought two "Apple USB-C to Headphone Jack Adapters". Upon closer inspection, they seems to be of different generations:
The one with product ID 0x110a on top is working fine. The one with product ID 0x110b has two issues:
There is a short but loud click noise on the headphone when I connect it to the iPad.
When I play audio using AVAudioPlayer the first half of a second or so is cut off.

I'm trying to write 16-bit interleaved 2-channel data captured from a LiveSwitch audio source to a AVAudioFile. The buffer and file formats match but I get a bad parameter error from the API. Does this API not support the specified format or is there some other issue?

I’m an iOS developer building an app with an use case that needs advanced playback on Apple Music subscription streams, specifically:
• Real-time tempo change (BPM) during playback — i.e., time-stretch with key-lock, not just crossfade.
• Beat-matched transitions between tracks.
From what I can tell, this capability seems to exist only for approved partners and isn’t available through public MusicKit.
Question: What’s the official request path to be evaluated for that restricted partner entitlement (application form, questionnaire, NDA, or internal team/BD contact)? If the entitlement identifier is internal, how can I get my account routed to the right Apple Music team?
For reference, publicly announced partners include Algoriddim djay, Serato DJ Pro, rekordbox (AlphaTheta), and Engine DJ—all of which appear to implement mixing features that imply advanced playback (tempo/beat-matching) on Apple Music content. I’d prefer not to share product details publicly for the moment and can provide specifics privately if needed.

I'm working on adding CarPlay support to an audio app and am running into an issue. Occasionally, when a user opens the app from CarPlay while the main app scene is either not connected or is currently in the background, I will receive an error when attempting to activate the audio session. The code below mimics my setup:

That error code maps to AVAudioSession.ErrorCode.cannotInterruptOthers.
Once in this state, all subsequent attempts to play different pieces of content will fail. However, things will start working normally if the user opens the app on their phone and tries again from CarPlay (while the app is in the foreground on their phone).
I'm not sure why it would behave this way and want to note that I do have the audio background mode capability enabled.
Has anyone else encountered this? Are there any workarounds or changes I could make to prevent this from happening?

My team and I think we have an issue where our app is asked to gracefully shutdown with a following SIGTERM. As we’ve learned, this is normally not an issue. However, it seems to also be happening while our app (an audio streamer) is actively playing in the background.
From our perspective, starting playback is indicating strong user intent. We understand that there can be extreme circumstances where the background audio needs to be killed, but should it be considered part of normal operation? We hope that’s not the case.
All we see in the logs is the graceful shutdown request. We can say with high certainty that it’s happening though, as we know that playback is running within 0.5 seconds of the crash, without any other tracked user interaction.
Can you verify if this is intended behavior, and if there’s something we can do about it from our end. From our logs it doesn’t look to be related to either memory usage within the app, or the system as a whole.

I have an AUv3 that passes all validation and can be loaded into Logic Pro without issue. The UI for the plug in can be any aspect ratio but Logic insists on presenting it in a view with a fixed aspect ratio. That is when resizing, both the height and width are resized. I have never managed to work out what it is I need to do specify to Logic to allow the user to resize width or height independently of each other.
Can anyone tell me what I need to specify in the AU code that will inform Logic that the view can be resized from any side of the window/panel?
Since MacOS 26 Apple Music has inconsitent drops to the Quality of some Tracks indiscrimantly. I don't know if others Expereinced it. It doesn't happen on the Speakers or connected via Bluetooth, but the AUX I/O has it quite often. It is more noticable on Headphones with 48kHz and higher Frequency Bandwidth.

It works perfectly fine.
But in production env some small percentage of the user we are facing issue like after recording few packets it stops automatically without stopping the audio engine. Can anyone help here that why this happens? I have also observed for mediaServicesWereResetNotification and added log on receiving this notification but when this issue happens I don't see any occurence of this log. Also is there any callback when the engine stops?
We’ve encountered a reproducible issue where the iPhone fails to reconnect to a Wi-Fi access point under the following conditions:
The device is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network.
A Bluetooth audio accessory is connected (e.g. headset).
AVAudioSession is active (such as during a voice call or when using the Voice Memos app).
The user moves away from the access point, causing a disconnect.
Upon returning within range, the access point is no longer recognized or reconnected while AVAudioSession remains active.
However, if the Bluetooth device is disconnected or the AVAudioSession is deactivated, the Wi-Fi access point is immediately recognized again.
We confirmed this behavior not only in my app but also using Apple's built-in Voice Memos app, suggesting this is not specific to our implementation.
It appears that the Wi-Fi system deprioritizes reconnection while AVAudioSession is engaged. Could this be by design? Or is this a known issue or limitation with Wi-Fi and AVAudioSession interaction?

I'm streaming mp3 audio data using URLSession/AudioFileStream/AVAudioConverter and getting occasional silent buffers and glitches (little bleeps and whoops as opposed to clicks). The issues are present in an offline test, so this isn't an issue of underruns.
Doing some buffering on the input coming from the URLSession (URLSessionDataTask) reduces the glitches/silent buffers to rather infrequent, but they do still happen occasionally.

I've tried to schedule multiple buffers at once using a combination of both the synchronous and async versions of scheduleBuffer because I thought the delay might be but it still stutters and the data copied into the playbackBuffer matches the source buffer. I've tried all combinations of options and completionCallbackType but no luck.
I've tried increasing the buffer size but that just spaces out the stutters because the buffer is larger.
What am I missing about this API?
I’m building a teleprompter-style app that relies on Picture in Picture.
PiP starts correctly on device.
Everything works — until another app (e.g. TikTok / Instagram) starts active video recording.
When camera capture begins in the foreground app, iOS terminates my PiP session.
Some teleprompter apps appear to keep PiP active while recording in other apps, so I’m trying to understand the recommended architectural pattern for this scenario.
Is there a documented approach or best practice to keep PiP stable during third-party camera capture?
Looking specifically for guidance on the correct AVKit / AVAudioSession configuration for this use case.

I developed an educational app that implements audio-video communication through RTC, while using WebView to display course materials during classes. However, some users are experiencing an issue where the audio playback from WebView is very quiet. I've checked that the AVAudioSessionCategory is set by RTC to AVAudioSessionCategoryPlayAndRecord, and the AVAudioSessionCategoryOption also includes AVAudioSessionCategoryOptionMixWithOthers. What could be causing the WebView audio to be suppressed, and how can this be resolved?
Description: I have identified a specific issue when recording acoustic guitar and other instruments on the iPhone 17 Pro Max using native applications (Voice Memos, Camera). The recordings contain an unnatural metallic resonance (ringing artifacts) that should not be present.
Testing and Methodology:
Hardware Verification: Initially, I suspected a hardware defect in the audio chip or microphone. However, extensive testing with third-party software suggests this is likely a software-level issue.
AudioShare Test: I conducted a test using the AudioShare app in "Measurement Mode" (which bypasses standard iOS system-wide audio processing). In this mode, the audio remains perfectly clean, and the metallic ringing disappears entirely.
Conclusion: The issue is rooted in the DSP (Digital Signal Processing) algorithms that iOS applies for noise suppression or voice enhancement. These algorithms appear to misinterpret the high-frequency overtones of acoustic instruments as background noise and attempt to "filter" them, resulting in audible digital artifacts.
Comparison Results: This issue has not been observed on devices from other brands or on older iPhone models (preliminary tests suggest older versions handle this better). Notably, the problem persists even in GarageBand, as the app still utilizes certain system-level processing layers.
Proposed Solution: I suggest adding a "Raw Audio" or "Instrument Mode" toggle within the Microphone/Audio settings for native apps. This mode should disable aggressive DSP processing, similar to how the AVAudioSession.Mode.measurement works in specialized apps.

I’m running HomePod OS 26 on two HomePod minis and OS 18.6 on main HomePod (original)
I’ve enabled Crossfade in the Home app.
I’m playing Apple Music directly in the HomePod mini.
Crossfade just doesn’t work on any HomePod.
I can understand it not working on the HomePod - but why isn’t it working on the minis running OS 26?
I’ve tried disabling and enabling Crossfade, rebooting HomePods etc but nothing?!
