Hello there, I have a problem reaching the CloudKit dashboard. Every time I login, the login successes but then I get the error: An error has caused this web page to stop working correctly. This also happens when I click on the Button CloudKit dashboard. Then I can reload the page, but the same errors occurs again and again. Can someone help me with this problem?

I'm testing my app before releasing to testers, and my app (both macOS and iOS) is crashing when I perform one operation, but only in the production build.
I have data that loads from a remote source, and can be periodically updated. There is an option to delete all of that data from the iCloud data store, unless the user has modified a record. Each table has a flag to indicate that (userEdited). Here's the function that is crashing:

It works if I do the following instead:

Why would the func call work in development, but crash in production? And why does doing the more verbose way work instead?

I am using cloudkit to save users high scores in a public database. The preference over using Game Center is because of simplicity and works really well for what I want to achieve. I simply want to let users know their global position. Because of data privacy laws the app asks the user for their permission to submit their score each time they get a new high score.
However, I have noticed that CKRecords under 'created' and 'modified' in addition to UTC time and date also contain creatorUserRecordID. Could this be a privacy issue? Can you extract any personal information from this? Can this be used to track back to the user? Is it linked to CKUserIdentity which I understand does contain personal information, although as I understand you need users consent to get this information. Under creatorUserRecordID it says... "Every user of the app has a unique user record that is empty by default. Apps can add data to the user record on behalf of the user, but don’t store sensitive data in it"
Currently I simply ask the user if they are happy to submit their score. But do I need to point out that it also stores a creatorUserRecordID? Obviously I don't want to do this if it is not needed as the user will 1) Probably not understand what a creatorUserRecordID is and 2) It makes the question complicated and will likely make most people refuse to submit their score.
If it is a privacy issue, is there anyway to stop a CKRecord creating this ID and simply save a score? All I need is a list of scores so the app can determine their current position.
If creatorUserRecordID does not contain any personal details and cannot be tracked back to the user please let me know, so I can be reassured that my current set up is fine and I am not causing any privacy issues!

My project is using swiftData and I want to implement iCloud sync in it. Now, my data base doesnt have any optional attributes or relationships and CloudKit wants them to be optional.
So, rather than editing all code with unwrapping code for the optionals, how can I provide a bridge that does so in the last stage of actually saving to the store? Sort of, capture it in a proxy object before writing and after reading from the store.
Is there a neat way that can save a lot of debugging? I have code snippets from chat gpt and they are hard to debug. This is my first project in swiftUI.

the last days I was trying to solve a bug in my Unit Tests related to the CoreData "NSManagedObjectContextObjectsDidChange" Notification.
Im using some kind of Notification handler to save and abstract that for the UI and while the tests are running this notification was triggered with objects that doesn't exists anymore, which has resulted in a crash.
After some debugging I have detected, that the objects in here are really old. The objects here was from few tests ago, where a Merge Conflict happened. In the meantime there was a plenty of resets and deletes of the whole db. I have also seen that the bad notification is the first in the stack trace of the main thread, which is in my opinion also not usual.
So the real question is:
The only difference what I have found for the bad notification to the real notification, was the existence of the key "NSObjectsChangedByMergeChangesKey" in the UserInfo dictionary of the ObjectsDidChange Notification. But this key is nowhere found in the documentation of Apple. Also the search engines does not produce any result. So what is this key and when is this key contained in this notification and when not?
Maybe if I understand this, it helps me to understand the overall issue ...

As you know, when using SwiftData Cloudkit, all relationships are required to be optional.
In my app, which is a list app, I have a model class Project that contains an array of Subproject model objects. A Subproject also contains an array of another type of model class and this chain goes on and on.
In this type of pattern, it becomes really taxxing to handle the optionals the correct way, i.e. unwrap them as late as possible and display an error to the user if unable to.
It seems like most developers don't even bother, they just wrap the array in a computed property that returns an empty array if nil.
I'm just wondering what is the recommended way by Apple to handle these optionals. I'm not really familiar with how the CloudKit backend works, but if you have a simple list app that only saves to the users private iCloud, can I just handwave the optionals like so many do? Is it only big data apps that need to worry? Or should we always strive to handle them the correct way? If that's the case, why does it seem like most people skip over them? Be great if an Apple engineer could weigh in.

I am using this iCloud key value pair mechanism to save small app configuration between iOS and tvOS.
I would say it is working. But when I go back and forth between debug and release (TestFlight) modes, it is like both apps are not connected anymore.
I spend a lot of time restarting all devices, rebuilding, activating / deactivating iCloud capabilities in the Xcode project.
It is like the app is mixing debug and release data.
Is there an easy way to check what is happening exactly ? I know there's nothing on CloudKit console, so ....

I am working on a software where we want to add the feature to share the whole database with the other user. Database is iCloud combined with coredata. The other user(s) should be able to edit /delete and even create new objects in the share.
I did this with this code witch directly from sample code

I am following Apple's instruction to sync SwiftData with CloudKit. While initiating the ModelContainer, right after removing the store from Core Data, the error occurs:
FAULT: NSInternalInconsistencyException: This NSPersistentStoreCoordinator has no persistent stores (unknown). It cannot perform a save operation.; (user info absent)
I've tried removing default.store and its related files/folders before creating the ModelContainer with FileManager but it does not resolve the issue. Isn't it supposed to create a new store when the ModelContainer is initialized? I don't understand why this error occurs. Error disappears when I comment out the #if DEBUG block.

I'm working on a macOS app with a Safari web extension. I'm trying to share a SwiftData model between devices using CloudKit synchronization. I am able to get synchronization in the main app on the same device, CloudKit sync works correctly — changes appear in the CloudKit Dashboard under com.apple.coredata.cloudkit.zone.
However, in the Safari App Extension, data is saved locally and persists across launches, but never syncs to CloudKit.
I have followed the recommended practices for configuring the App Group and entitlements, but the issue persists.
Questions:
Is there an official limitation preventing Safari App Extensions from connecting to the CloudKit daemon (cloudd)?
If not, what entitlements or configuration changes are required for a Safari App Extension to successfully sync with CloudKit?
Is the xpc_error=159 from bootstrap_look_up() a known sandbox restriction for this extension type?
Any guidance from Apple engineers or others who have successfully used CloudKit from a Safari App Extension would be appreciated.

I'm using Swift Data for an app that requires iOS 18.
All of my models conform to a protocol that guarantees they have a 'serverID' String variable.
I wrote a function that would allow me to pass in a serverID String and have it fetch the model object that matched. Because I am lazy and don't like writing the same functions over and over, I used a Self reference so that all of my conforming models get this static function.
Imagine my model is called "WhatsNew". Here's some code defining the protocol and the fetching function.

Worked great! Or so I thought...
I built this and happily ran a debug build in the Simulator and on devices for months while developing the initial version but when I went to go do a release build for TestFlight, that build reliably crashed on every device with a message like this:

It seems (cannot confirm) that something in the release build optimization process is stripping out some metadata / something about these models that makes this predicate crash.
Tested on iOS 18.0 and 18.1 beta.
How can I resolve this? I have two dozen types that conform to this protocol. I could manually specialize this function for every type myself but... ugh.
It takes a few seconds, sometimes a few minutes for records to be downloaded back from CloudKit when the user reinstalls the app, which leads users to thinking their data was lost. I would like to know if there’s any way to provide a visual feedback about the current CloudKit sync status so I can let users know their data is being in fact downloaded back to their devices.
We are trying to solve for the following condition with SwiftData + CloudKit:
Lots of data in CloudKit
Perform "app-reset" to clear data & App settings and start fresh.
Reset data models with try modelContext.delete(model:_) myModel.count() confirms local deletion (0 records); but iCloud Console shows expectedly slow process to delete.
Old CloudKit data is returning during the On Boarding process.
Questions:
• Would making a new iCloud Zone for each reset work around this, as the new zone would be empty? We're having trouble finding details about how to do this with SwiftData.
• Would CKSyncEngine have a benefit over the default SwiftData methods?
Open to hearing if anyone has experienced a similar challenge and how you worked around it!
I am trying out the new AttributedString binding with SwiftUI’s TextEditor in iOS26. I need to save this to a Core Data database. Core Data has no AttributedString type, so I set the type of the field to “Transformable”, give it a custom class of NSAttributedString, and set the transformer to NSSecureUnarchiveFromData
When I try to save, I first convert the Swift AttributedString to NSAttributedString, and then save the context. Unfortunately I get this error when saving the context, and the save isn't persisted:

Hi All,
I work on a cross platform app, iOS/macOS.
All devises on iOS could synchronize data from Coredata : I create a client, I see him an all iOS devices.
But when I test on macOs (with TestFlight) the Mac app could not get any information from iOs devices.
On Mac, cloud drive is working because I could download and upload documents and share it between all devices, so the account is working but with my App on MacOS, there is no synchronisation.

If I set my build settings "default actor isolation" to MainActor, how do my @ModelActor actors and model classes need to look like ?
For now, I am creating instances of my @ModelActor actors and passing my modelContext container and processing all data there. Everything stays in this context. No models are transferred back to MainActor.
Now, after changing my project settings, I am getting a huge amount of warnings.
Do I need to set all my model classes to non-isolated and the @ModelActor actor as well?
Is there any new sample code to cover this topic ... did not find anything for now.

I am trying to add a custom JSON DataStore and DataStoreConfiguration for SwiftData. Apple kindly provided some sample code in the WWDC24 session, "Create a custom data store with SwiftData", and (once updated for API changes since WWDC) that works fine.
However, when I try to add a relationship between two classes, it fails. Has anyone successfully made a JSONDataStore with a relationship?

The save operation creates a JSON file, which while it isn't a format I would choose, is acceptable, though I notice that the "hack" property (the relationship) doesn't have the correct identifier.
When I run the app again to load the data, I get an error (that there wasn't room to include in this post).
Even if I change Apple's code to not assign a new identifier, so the relationship property and its pointee have the same identifier, it still doesn't load.
Am I doing something obviously wrong, or are relationships not supported in custom data stores?
I have the following struct doing some simple tasks, running a network request and then saving items to Core Data.
Per Xcode 26's new default settings (onisolated(nonsending) & defaultIsolation set to MainActor), the struct and its functions run on the main actor, which works fine and I can even safely omit the context.perform call because of it, which is great.

Now, I want to run this in a background thread to increase performance and responsiveness. So I followed this session (https://developer.apple.com/videos/play/wwdc2025/270) and believe the solution is to mark the struct as nonisolated and the function itself as @concurrent.
The function now works on a background thread, but I receive a crash: _dispatch_assert_queue_fail. This happens whether I wrap the Core Data calls with context.perform or not. Alongside that I get a few new warnings which I have no idea how to work around.
So, what am I doing wrong here? What's the correct way to solve this simple use case with Swift 6's new concurrency stuff and the default main actor isolation in Xcode 26?
Curiously enough, when setting onisolated(nonsending) to false & defaultIsolation to non isolating, mimicking the previous behavior, the function works without crashing.

According to my experiments SwiftData does not work with model attributes of primitive type UInt64. More precisely, it crashes in the getter of a UInt64 attribute invoked on an object fetched from the data store.
With Core Data persistent UInt64 attributes are not a problem. Does anyone know whether SwiftData will ever support UInt64?
